Craftsmanship
Celadon owes its green colour to a small amount of iron in the glaze, fired in a reduction (low-oxygen) atmosphere. Longquan-style celadon is known for thick, soft glazes; where the glaze is thinner, over edges and carving, the colour becomes lighter. Shade varies from firing to firing.
How to Use
For serving and eating food. Before first use, wash in warm water with a little mild detergent. Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as pouring boiling liquid into a cold piece straight from the refrigerator.
Care
Wash by hand with warm water and a soft sponge; avoid abrasive scourers. Do not expose to sudden temperature changes. Hand-made and hand-painted pieces vary slightly in colour, pattern and size; photos are for reference.
